Sci-fi movies

I just finished watching the following movies and here's what I thought about them

Armageddon- Micheal Bay needs to formally apologize for making such an abomination of a movie because I raged so hard.

Deep Impact- It was basically the equivalent to your girlfriend calming you down after someone pissed you off: You still have a bit of rage in you, but at least you've cooled down.

2001: A Space Odyssey- Really freaking long, kinda boring, but man was it a masterpiece. Everyone needs to watch this iconic film.

Contact- Very good. Highly recommended. This film should be archived in the National Film Registry.

What other films do I need to watch /sci/? And yes, I have also seen Carl Sagan's Cosmos: A personal Voyage

Solaris, long and somewhat boring like 2001, but still a classic. The old Russian one that is, the US remake was crap.

Sage for /tele/.

If I've read Carl Sagan's Cosmos book, should I still watch the series?  Will I learn anything new?
