I'm going to speak tomorrow about whether humans should play god-you know,genetic engineering,enhancements and all that.Give me some opinions.

I see no reason not to make life better for ourselves.  Isn't that the whole point of technological improvement?

Technology will set us free.

And what, exactly, is wrong with it? I have yet to see a single coherent, rational argument against it. Norman Borlaug has directly saved literally BILLIONS (with a capital 'B') of people with GM crops. Think about that for a second. Without his work, BILLIONS of people--men, women, and children--would have starved to death. But it's more than that. Without GM crops, even First World countries would be starving. Our species would have literally outgrown our capacity to grow food decades ago if we hadn't directly manipulated the genes of our crops. Hell, if it weren't for selective breeding, which we've been doing since the Neolithic Revolution 10,000 years ago and which is essentially the same thing if less precise, our species would still be a bunch of nomads.

Anyway, "God" doesn't exist. Such a being isn't just unlikely, but Logically Impossible. Get over it. But even if it did exist, isn't "God" the embodiment of all that is Good and Just and Perfect, etc, etc? What would be so wrong with acting like that? Didn't "God" supposedly give us dominion over the animals and such, which means we can do what we need to in order to prevent the starvation of (again) BILLIONS of our fellow men? And I'm sure that if "God" had any problems with what we are doing, he would have said something by now. Besides, being "Omniscient" and all, he would have seen this coming since before he created the Universe, right? Since he created DNA, that would imply that he created it for us to play with, right? I dunno, I'm tired of ranting. Fuck it.
