/ 9 +  (-2-x)  = 5

The large thing is a square root.
And the 2 up there is a square.

In bf my homework

I have no idea what to do with that floating 2.

The 2 is after the (-2-x)

\sqrt{9 + (-2 - x)^{2}} = 5

9 + (-2 - x)^{2} = 25

(-2 - x)^{2} = 25 - 9 = 16

x^{2} + 4x + 4 = 16

x^{2} + 4x + 4 - 16 = 0

x^{2} + 4x - 12 = 0

(x + 6)(x - 2) = 0

x = -6, 2
