some basic rules:
f(x)=a*(x^n) where a and n are constants
f'(x)=n*a*(x^[n-1])
d/dx[c] = 0 where c is any (real) constant
solution for your specific case:
s = (t^3+1)^2 = [(t^3)^2]+2t^3+1 = t^6+2t^3+1
s' = 6t^5 + 6t^2 + 0
s'' = 30t^4 + 12t = a
