The bob of a pendulum of length L is pulled aside so that the string makes an angle "theta" with the vertical, and the bob is then released. Without using the conservation of energy and using instead Newton's Second Law, show that the tangential component of Newton's second law gives dv/dt = -g*sin(theta), where v is the speed and theta is the angle between the string and the vertical. Show that v can be written v = L d(theta)/dt.
