0.999... = 1?

My stupid math prof tells me that .9999999... = 1. But I think he is just stupid.

So, what's your take?

That property (between any two distinct number is another number) is a property of ordered fields only, like the reals. It does not apply when dealing with unordered fields, like the field of complex numbers.
