WHOA! Finally, fantastically rich topic to cultivate! Yes, adaptation. We as humans have the capacity and potential for many great things. You may see people including yourself, if you are observent at the time of occurance, performing tasks without even understanding why, for what purpose, and to what end. We as humans are told by OTHERS that we must take this on faith, but if we or they are weighed, measured and found wanting we just may find that we were living a lie without even knowing it. This is the fear of my life, but to know that the potential and opportunities for this occurance we have gained 1% knowledge and 99% forgettfulness due to inactivity. Whereas if we were to perform to ensure our faith to understand the potential and opportunities for decay, adaptation, creation and destruction within our own fallible, vulnerable human condition we will gain 1% knowledge + 99% self-awareness = 100% wisdom. At least that is my personal belief, and my words are my actions on this forum -in part- to ensure that faith. Ever heard of the catch-phrase "Out of sight, out of mind?" How do you think the devil can convince the world he doesn't exist? By saying he's you, by scapegoating to another object or person. By passing the buck, by segregating and seperating you from him via being intangible and forcing symbology to the destruction of him. What do you think the purpose of the Devil is anyway? To further seperate the iniquities of all human understanding, to pit left against right, to pit brother against brother, to pit segregate against segregate until man exists no more. We need to understand that the Ego is part of us, but it is a very small part, not the sum of the whole certainly not the absolute controller of our choices, though we often concede in order to appease the ego's popular whims and impulses via emotional responses. "The enemy lies within you. EMBRACE THE PAIN" - Revolver; at the end psychologists explain what the ego really is and how to identify the ego's attacks. When there is seperation or segregation, that's good vs evil and yet another form of scapegoating and/or blame. When there's misdirection, that is Ego, when there's methods of placation towards another individual to the benefit of the personal performing the placation that is the ego. The ego wishes only to win at any cost including its own safety and your sanity. Your ego is not YOU, your ego is single causal activity that prohibits self-awareness due to us having a vulnerable human condition. The trick is to find a balance that not only appeases the ego, but moves to transcend beyond to think of the future as opposed to reasoning alone. So, what are you doing to secure your great-great grand-children's futures? Let me rephrase, what have you done to secure yours? I utilize Maslow's Hierarchy of needs as a benchmark for understanding the human condition as it is very truth-telling and accurate to a fault. I also utilize understandings I've obtained during my long slumber in my heavenly destitute hell that sucks away your soul known as my couch. You get pretty good sleep, and when you wake up you wish you never slept on it, yet the next day you end up doing it again. Strange occurance wouldn't you say? It's a comfortable couch and it seems to be very easy to sleep on, yet, in the morning the kinks and cringes of sharp agonizing muscle fatigue that just sets your mood to the tune of "FUCK IT ALL, FUCK THIS WORLD, FUCK EVERYTHING YOU STAND FOR" type of attitude and it's very strange, the ego. Damned if I know completely how to combat such an illusive adversary. How do you kill a part of yourself without killing yourself? You can't! But the ego wants you to do so in order to be in complete control over consciousness. One thing that can happen is communication and cooperation.
