The Smartest Race

Name: Anonymous 2008-03-04 20:21

No, I'm not a racist, nor am I Caucasian, but I've been reading ramblings that tend to suggest that the two "smartest" races on the planet are the Chinese and Indians. From what I've read, this is mostly based on IQ tests and universal academic performance. I believe this goes under genetics, but which group(s) do you guys think has grown to be intellectually superior and why?

Name: Anonymous 2012-02-07 16:55

Indians have an average IQ of 81. I don't know where you got the idea they were smart.

Name: Anonymous 2012-02-20 3:49

Also, this perception of Asian people being smarter may have more to do with the difference in population and selective testing.  Many countries don't include idiot kids in their national test results -I'm looking at you Denmark and China- then that's going to skew the numbers.

254-368-8896 CALL THIS NUMBER. THIS GIRL IS DISGUSTING. SHE SENDS PICTURES OF HERSELF FINGERING HER ASSHOLE AND SHE IMPERSONATES SCENE GIRLS ON TUMBLR. SHE IS A FAKE WHO LIKES TO DATE PEOPLE ONLINE.

I'm an Indian. I'm studying biotechnology. It's not down to genetics. it's down to culture.

Most kids who go on to become engineers don't like it. Salaries dictate passion

Status Quo: either you get that package right after you graduate or you aint as good as the rest.

Result: Everyone clamors for software/IT jobs- i was one of three in my class of 70 who chose biotech rather than got it-rest didnt get high enough scores for the circuital branches.

and we still havent reached 100% literacy after 60 years( definition of a literate here : one who can read and write ONE sentence in a given language).......

Hahaha. Great thread.

culture, yes. or in general your learning/study environment. asians (for example) that go to a country for an education, where their native language is not spoken, focus on subjects that dont involve that much linguistics, such as science/maths/programming - just because it is easier for them to get into it

All THOSE WHO ARE typing bullshit about asians are whites.MOST OF THEM ARE LOG CUTTRERS,PLUMBERS,DRIVERS.MOST WHITES EARN LESS THAN THE ASIANS LIVING IN THEIR COUNTRY.WHITES HAVE ONLY GOT THE BRAIN TO FIGHT OVER PITY THINGS.

I believe this is because they are both being forced to go to school for about 10 hours and have very very very few days off ,if any, throughout the year. The only time they have off is for like a 1 week vacation and about 3 holidays throughout the entire year but if it was because of genetics I would think that it would probably be the Chinese because there are Chinese people going to school than Indians. There are more parts of India where some kids don't even go to school than parts of China.

You don't understand how IQ tests work.
You don't understand how IQ tests work.

Seriously. Its not that these races are born smart, its just that in these regions, where these people are predominant, they place a huge emphasis on higher and advanced learning. Improving education systems can improve a people. Jesus CHRIST! THERE IS NO SMART RACE! CULTURE AFFECTS INTELLIGENCE!!! BRAINS ARE MOLDABLE!!! A STUPID PERSON CAN BECOME SMART WITH HARD WORK AND A CHANGE IN PERSPECTIVE!!!! GOD DAMN YOU ALL!!!

 can't think of an analogy."
I'm pretty sure you can erase the "... I can't think of an analogy." part

After World War II, a series of tests for Japanese showed an increase in IQ points in the population where Japanese had intermarried with people from other countries. This trend waned over the next two generations. It seems to me (and I'm open to other theories) that a new mix introduced into the gene pool combines to stimulate intelligence. I have observed this phenomenon in my own family, so there may be some basis for the theory.

I do agree that culture and educational opportunities do enhance the basic level of intelligence that a person is born with. Yet somehow I think that natural ability if given the least chance will shine through. High (or low) intelligence isn't attached to a specific race, but when a new gene pool mix is found, the possibilities expand. I vote for the human race as the only one there is. Color, be it pink, black, yellow, or red--or maybe purple?--is only skin deep. All brains are the same color under the skin.

@95

im curious about the gene pool mixing. any chance you know of some literature? id like to read up.

aside, there probably is VERY Minute differences between races. evolution still hasn't stopped. typically though, social stimulus is still the presiding factor in cognitive ability. people from the developing world typically try harder in school, and thus do better in school.

When they do tests of East Asians in East Asia they get an IQ score of 104.
To anyone who thinks that IQ is environmental:

IQ, contrary to what some (post 60) may believe, is not population based, but rather a measure of an individual's ability to reason out certain situations. Also, this thread alone proves that Caucasians seem to be, if not the most stupid, the most arrogant and bitchy group of people. I am frankly ashamed at the mass stupidity of some people. Hint: if you disagree with facts and/or make up random-ass lists of intelligence, you probably don't have the right idea. Was this post ragebait and trollbait? Probably. Do I care? No, I stopped giving a shit when I first saw a troll.

Name: countfuckyou 2013-02-20 18:15

BTW genetics studies have yet to find any evidence of inherited intelligence, so without that to back it up, you could not make any argument for an intellectually superior race.   Intelligence is a somewhat abstract concept anyway.  For me, it is an individuals ability to see through absolute bullshit... like OP's question..

Have you people heard of what is technological singularity ? Soon robot and machine will replace human to be the smarter "species", so your didn't have to fight who is smarter anymore !

'I thought Harvard would reject me'

US student accepted to all eight Ivy League schools

HIGH ACHIEVER: Kwasi Enin is a good athlete and musician, and volunteers at a hospital.

Students apply to Ivy League schools and hope they will be lucky enough to get into one.

But Kwasi Enin, a 17-year-old New York student, has achieved something others can only dream about: He has been accepted to all the eight Ivy League schools, Newsday.com reported.

The eight schools are Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania and Yale.

"By applying to all eight, I figured it would better the chances of getting into one," he said.

He has not decided which school to go to, but is inclined to attend Yale, depending on the financial aid package offered. He has until May 1 to decide.

His first acceptance letter came from Princeton in December last year and the last from Harvard, last Thursday.

"I thought Harvard would be the one to reject me", the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.

As an example of what Kwasi accomplished. Harvard has one of the lowest acceptance rates in the US, at just 5.9 per cent. That makes it 2,023 students out of 34,295 applicants.

He scored 2,250 out of a possible 2,400 for his SAT, placing him in the 99th percentile across the country, according to The College Board.

He is also ranked 11th in his class at William Floyd High School, a public school on Long Island, according to his principal, Ms Barbara Butler, CNN reported.

He is an athlete, a shot putter and the baritone can belt out a tune when he is not playing viola for the school orchestra.

Said Mr Butler: "Usually, kids are good athletes or good musicians or good actors, but they don't have all three and then on top, add student government. It's a balancing act."

VOLUNTEER

She said: "He somehow finds time to do it all and then volunteer at a local hospital."

Kwasi, who wants to study medicine, has now surpassed the accomplishments of some of his uncles and cousins, who accepted to several Ivy league schools.

He said: "I always thought they were far better than me academically."

Kwasi's parents, both nurses, emigrated to the US from Ghana in the 1980s.

In the world of academia, Kwasi is a "rock star", Mr Stephen Friedfeld, co-founder of AcceptU, a college admissions counselling group, told The Wall Street journal.

Said Mr Friedfeld: "He sounds like a dream student."

Kwasi and his sister were brought up to strive for excellence, said his father, Mr Ebenezer Enin.

He said: "We are very proud of him. He's an amazing kid. He's very humble. He's been trained to be a high achiever right from when he was a kid."
