ITT we praise geologists, the hardiest, most practical and richest of all physical scientists.

You piece of schist!

I found that not having a masters degree was a barrier to further advancement.  So I'm having to get a masters even while working for people who never got one themselves.  On the other hand, they've got 25 years' experience, so they know what they're doing.

Hmm, the pay for a beginning geologist in Texas would be around...I dunno, I'm guessing $80,000--$100,000. I'm guessing that amount because as a mere geotech I made $60,000/year. If you get hired by a Mom n' Pop exploration company, though, they'll pay you half of that and not provide insurance. And ask you to work 7 days a week until you're dead.  Better to get in with a big little oil co. like Devon, they treat you right.

I would suggest watching King of the Hill so you will know what your life in Texas will be like.  It's all true, down to the smallest detail. NO, BOBBY!
