If you're in public high school in Amerikkka, go with this. The teacher will be so terrified of getting sued and/or shitkicked by some rednecks that he'll just give you the points. This works not just for underwater plants, but every single aspect of biology. Also philosophy, but their answers are rarely any better than "God did it" anyways.
