I found this fascinating.

1) What would be the value of $10,000 worth of shares at the end of 2 years if they decrease in value by 10% in the first year and then increase in value by 10% in the second year.

The answer turned out to be $9900.

Why is this? Surely the price would remain the same..?

No, because you take ten percent of 10, 000 off, but only add on ten percent of 9000.

10% of 10 000 is 1000
10% of 9000 is 900.
