Earth is running out of water

Name: Anonymous 2007-03-21 10:59 ID:OV25SuzY

What are we gonna do now?  I hear there's water on Mars..  should we ship some of that over to replace our water shortage?

Earth ran out of water back in the 30s.

What else do you think NASA's been doing all this time?!

do astronauts' piss go in space, if it does then the earth is slowly losing water. DAMN U NASA

How can you run out of water, Law of Conservation states that simply isn't possible.
If you mean there isn't enough water to sustain human life, then cull the population

There is the same amount of water on earth as there was 65 million years ago. Every time you go to the water fountain you are drinking dinosaur piss.

Lol, no.

Yes!

The gravity is great enough to hold our atmosphere down, and the only way for water to escape is  by reaching the escape velocity for the planet. Even a meteor couldn't throw the water up fast enough long enough to make it escape.

CLOSED SYSTEMS, MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU HAVE THEM?

Name: Anonymous 2007-03-24 4:24 ID:s8QD+0s8

maybe we could such hydrogen out of the sun and burn it and made the water

Name: Anonymous 2007-03-24 6:13 ID:vCtVQe2V

There hasn't always been water on earth.

No...  The earth is an open system and we're constantly losing gas and water to outer space.  Most of the particles are slow enough not to escape, but some will eventually obtain enough speed to escape (they don't need escape velocity, slightly less than escape velocity is sufficient since they don't have to go off to infinity; ie if the speed was sufficient for the particle to depart more than say 1 AU from the earth, it is gone)

>>9 as >>13 stated, the earth is an open system.
But since earth is constantly being bombarded by asteriods that contain water (among other things) we are also getting some water.

>>11 yeah, and then we will run out of oxygen instead :)

the water is getting trapped in plastic water bottles which do not biodegrade.

This is genius and the real problem.

Incidentally, was OP prompted by that fucking retarded play Urine Town?  If so you should be buried choking on ur cock.  What a fucking waste of time that was and sperm you probably are.

Isn't some of the water being changed into other chemicals (in the same way that water was created on earth as the mixture of others)?

Name: Anonymous 2007-03-30 23:50 ID:Vn03uQr4

Yes. There are reactions that produce water as well.

honestly, is this a real problem? I read it somewhere on the net and it has bothered me ever since, so i try to uncap bottles whenever i can

Name: Anonymous 2007-04-02 11:23 ID:M7wdVj95

drink your own piss and you dont need water for the rest of your life

Name: Anonymous 2007-04-02 20:14 ID:Bl3N7h+X

>>19 ffs, no it's not.
one, there are simply not enugh water within those bottles that survive;
1. animals that try to eat them (thus making holes in them).
2. the biodegrading of the cap (some use different plastics)
3. the biodegrading of the bottle itself.
4. water reactis with plastics, ALL plastics, and breaks eventually free.
5. heating from the sun can cause the water to expand enugh to rupture the bottle.
6. fire can melt the bottle and thus 'freeing' the water.

And those that survive that(excluding 2 and 3) makes sutch a small difference that it just wont mather.
