'Garbage' DNA

Name: Anonymous 2007-02-16 1:33

What if evolution is not due to random 'errors' that create mutations, but what if the 'garbage dna' that scientists do not understand is some kind of an evolutionary guideline? They call it garbage because it doesn't seem to effect the traits of the creature, right? But if its some kind of evolutionary program then it would only cause any kind of forseeable effect millions of years in the future, and thus changing it or fooling with it in the here-and-now would make it seem as if it was garbage.

The 'what if' need not be considered unless there is evidence for it. There is no evidence for it. There is evidence for mutations being random errors that have either a positive or a negative effect on procreation chances and thus are more likely to spread or disappear respectively.
