Higher Level Maths for Leaving Certificate in Ireland is better than high school maths. You cannot multiply by 10 and gain a decimal {in this case, another 9}. To do so is to break logic. Arguing "there are infinite 9's" doesn't work. If there is not an end, you cannot modify it. You must lose the last digit.
