destruction of universe

Say you were somehow able to accelerate a particle to the speed of light, it would gain infinite energy. Now you collide said particle with its anti-particle. They cancel each other out and release an infinite amount of energy, thereby destroying the universe. Other than the fact that it is impossible to accelerate the particle to the speed of light, does this make any sense?

2+2=5. Other than the fact that 2+2=4, does this make any sense?
