Official nVidia is Finished Thread

Triple-A game developer here. Yeah, sometimes my job sucks, working long hours for the Jew.

But today, it feels great. No longer under NDA. This is why nVidia is finished:

- AMD's GCN SoC architecture is being used by the following platforms: XBox One, PS4, SteamBox reference platform.
- AMD's Mantle API for programming GCN to the metal will be openly available on for the PC for Windows, Linux and possibly FreeBSD, and this same API is what we're already using to program the GPU directly on the XBone and PS4. Yes, we have access to Direct3D and OpenGL, but for the big-budget triple-A games where we want max performance, we use Mantle.
- Mantle is low-level enough that you can build custom graphics renderers, like a custom hybrid poly + sparse vxel DAG ray-casting renderer w/ deferred rendering if you wish, with maximum hardware utilization.
- Since developers are porting to Mantle anyway for the console games, it's almost no effort to release Mantle-enabled games back on the PC.
- Microsoft won't be releasing a Direct3D 12 API. Ever. They're no longer competing in this sphere. They're 100% behind Mantle for triple-A developers, and Direct3D 11.1 for hobbyists or indies.
- This next console generation will last a long time again, at least 8-10 years.
- nVidia is free to target Mantle, AMD isn't stopping them, but they will have to make changes to their next gen hardware designs. They're 2-3 years behind.
- nVidia has no x86 + GPU SoC design because they have no x86 license.
- nVidia's Tegra 4 is a disappointment.
- You would be retarded not to buy AMD GPU hardware during your next upgrade cycle if you're serious about PC gaming.

nVidia is truly finished. Expect Intel to make an offer and pressure them into a buyout within the next 18 months.
