so I have two webservers

Name: Anonymous 2013-09-19 0:32

one runs only my site, but I can't see the processes, and I can't use wget, so apt-get doesn't work, so I can't update to python 2.6+ (2.4/2.5 is installed), so I can't install node.js

the other runs lots of sites, and I can see the processes, but can only kill the ones I've started (lots of users and permissions shit), and this one has node.js installed, but it has this whole port-forwarding thing that I can't figure out, so if I wanna run two or more websites on different ports I can't access the second site. I also can't install things with apt-get because it says I'm not root

these two are free servers, so I get it that they won't let me install anything I want, but I managed to install racket on the second one by doing the whole downloading source and ./configure and make part, but I can't access second sites so it's useless
any ideas?

• So you do not know about ps(1), top(1), or htop(1)?
• Are you seriously using node.js?
• What port-forwarding do you need that nc(1), IPtables, or Squid can't provide?
• Learn how format your vhost of the webserver.
• I hope you are running Debian…
• Why not use Scheme, or better yet Common Lisp?
• How much RAM do you have?

I rather you not answer here if you are genuinely asking. Make a thread with your responses at https://bbs.progrider.org/prog/
