Video players on linux

Why doesn't Linux have a good player like MPC-HC and an equivalent to MadVR and LAV Filters?

I want to Linux out but video playback seems really mediocre on Linux and they can't even decide which version of mplayer to use.

What the fuck, Linux users? I thought you said everything was better on Linux than Windows?
