It's a confused and mistaken idea. When people think of legal ideas, it should be done clearly and this can't be done when people group a collection of unrelated laws under a single label.

Essentially a set of fairytales for the gullible peasants who think property can be created from thin air by a decree: a "legal fiction" which encourages and strengthens laws to protect/control capital investment in non-material goods. Its a form of information control, designed to benefit the intellectual property owners(which aren't usually creators) at expense of progress and free exchange of information. In the future it will be viewed as corrupt and backward system which stifled real innovation.
Just think what Copy Right really means: a right to copy/imitate something. It doesn't mean stealing anything material: just a freedom to copy, which is available to and maintained by the copyright owner at the exclusion of everyone who does not possess "the right". It should be a human right to freely copy and distribute any information.
Governments protect the IP owners because they have symbiotic relationship(IP owner <Resources and Lobbying-->Intellectual Property Laws<--Laws and Enforcement>Politics favoring copyright).
In the interest of IP owners is to create more and stricter IP laws and control the most information.
Political factions want to control/censor information, protect and encourage the information-based business as its a part of economy built upon earlier IP laws.
The ideal of such IP proponents:
The "Digital Economy" when the house of cards is built upon the IP laws and manufacturing nothing, importing manufactured goods from overseas and getting paid for the IP fiction. A new form of colonial politics which will collapse as soon as one of the states stops playing the IP game.

You can visit my new forum(http://w11.zetaboards.com/frozenbbs/) where i use them(with no random signatures, because its a profile setting).
Holy fuck it's the real deal. Where did you go and why did you come back?

Google "evolved" the Blogger interface to be useless for posting code(i wrote userscripts to avoid them corrupting it: they broke them each time) and general blogging(that horrible visual editor and design that wastes screen real estate),then i decided delete it and move the stuff to reddit(to my old FV account from 2006) and post code on pastebin thereafter.
Now, I started a new forum(http://w11.zetaboards.com/frozenbbs/index/), i may repost old stuff there too. You're welcome to visit it.
