Actual days BBSs?

So I jsut discovered gopher. Wow
But I've been wondering for a while now, since BBSs are prehistoric by now, are there any BBS servers still alive? or some other internet services similar to BBS or gopher?
also, what are good gopher sites out there?

I miss Archie, though I suppose all the good FTPs are private now days.
