Network Printer Web Servers

So a lot of network printers come equipped with out-of-the-box proprietary web servers for finding out info on the status of the printer, printing test pages, etc. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried turning one into a XAMPP server which can do more than just display printer-related information.

There's DD-WRT for routers. Surely there's some sort of 3rd party firmware for network printers with web servers, right?

The with which printer? You need specifications, so you can get in to the hard drive, and install the other components you want: Dumb Apache, MySQL, PHP & PEAR, Perl, ProFTPD, phpMyAdmin, OpenSSL, GD, Freetype2, libjpeg, libpng, gdbm, zlib, expat, Sablotron, libxml, Ming, Webalizer, pdf class, ncurses, mod_perl, FreeTDS, gettext, mcrypt, mhash, eAccelerator, SQLite and IMAP C-Client.

However the easiest method is to to just get another computer to be the XAMMP server, and hook up the printer to it...
