possible to make money using programming?

I just had an idea, since there are a lot of computer use in the world today - surely I could make money by programming? maybe someone who doesn't have time to work through SICP just needs something coded or what? I don't know.. basically I need to start earning some money and I thought of this - what you do you think prog?

People who program purely for the money stay in DA INDUSTRY for too long. Maybe 10 years on average, 20 years on the rare exception that they're a masochist.
