Programming Jobs

Name: Anonymous 2013-06-13 20:38

I've never had a job, and most of the formal education I've received absolutely sucks, but I've spent years programming and I've become fairly decent at it. As you'd probably expect from a fellow /prog/rider, the only languages I really use on a daily basis are C and Lisp, so some kind of work using those languages would be ideal for me (but I guess there's no harm in learning other languages, right?)

Anyway, I'm wondering if any one could spare some advice on how I'd start making money with programming.

Go out to the business places and find out what sort of help they need with their software. You can choose to serve these businesses as a IT technician (after you've learned IT administration), web developer (after you've learned web development skills), or as a programmer. If you choose to do general IT work this way, your role would be as an IT consultant.
