Programming Jobs

Name: Anonymous 2013-06-13 20:38

I've never had a job, and most of the formal education I've received absolutely sucks, but I've spent years programming and I've become fairly decent at it. As you'd probably expect from a fellow /prog/rider, the only languages I really use on a daily basis are C and Lisp, so some kind of work using those languages would be ideal for me (but I guess there's no harm in learning other languages, right?)

Anyway, I'm wondering if any one could spare some advice on how I'd start making money with programming.

Nobody said you didn't have to see the people you work with. Contractors come in to work like everyone else at a lot of companies.

Write something neat in a fuckin web language or two and apply to some places while you're doing it.

For the record are you self taught or do you have a CS education? Not that it matters a whole lot, just wondering. If you do, it could help all the more. If you don't, who gives a fuck.
