It's worth your time if you're an historian of hopelessly useless, under engineered, knee-jerk solutions to under powered computers of the 70's. Then of course you should learn what ncurses is and how to use its API. It's a bit fun if you tell yourself you're an elite programmer doing hardcore shit.
