Error reporting service

Is it me or is the Microsoft website absolutely impenetrable?
Whenever I need information on pretty much anything, there is always an answer written for the "I use windows for making spreadsheets!" crowd and no equivalent technical answer. If you're looking for a solution for anything and the "restart your computer" approach doesn't work, you're fucked. Random Indian bloggers on the internet get it right more often than the knowledge base itself, it's embarrassing.

Anyway, my real question: How can I sign up to the error reporting service, to get information on crashes in programs I've written? (Not that anyone actually uses them, but a man can dream right?)

I've tried to get to some form of signup page, but there are two obstacles: the first is that the site's navigation is so absolutely opaque as to make the signup page impossible to find, and the second is that I have seen claims that they require a Verisign certificate.

bump for truth. don't let imperfection get you down progies/ embrace it. It's better to write something that's a bit obtuse that actually does something instead of searching for perfection and never ending up with anything at all. All things are imperfect, and are tuned with time to fit what they are used for.
