SICP is legit. But friendlier things might be Learn You A Haskell For Great Good or Learn Python the Hard Way.

Buy this book, it is a beginner's guide to programming in Lisp and will guide you through advanced concepts. There aren't many jobs that use Lisp however, the programming education you get from this book is valuable.
