Quantum reverse hashing

Name: Anonymous 2013-04-12 19:54

You give a quantum computer a hash and a file size and it generates a superposition of all possible files that match that hash. Then you can select all files with only ASCII or UTF-8 characters or all files with valid MPEG headers or whatever type you want. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Quantum computers are not magic.

And if you had a magic computer then that's just a boring thing to do.

Next step, then, is to hash the file several times, with different algorithms. At decode time, you repeat with each hash, and can pick common matches. Narrows it down.

May still have to wait long for any of that to ever actually happen, tho…

A quantum computer isn't that magic. The limit of 'superpositions' is just a couple of hundred. At most it is a finite parallel computer. It makes some calculations faster. Don't believe all that propaganda.

Whose ass did you pull that number out of? Do you mean qubits? Because that number is doubling on about a yearly basis.

Great, but then you need a computer with infinite memory!

Naw, just use FrozenFag's infinite compression.

How about universal reverse hashing. When you need some data, start a universe and make life in it, then wait for them to come up with the data for you.

That really rustled my entropy!
