Why don't schools teach programming?

When I was a bairn, I learned BBC BASIC.

Now schools teach email and PowerPoint. What the fuck.

Last I heard, US Feds will punish –for treason– any school teacher that teaches any of the mechanics of how revolutions work. They have to stick with "and then there was a revolution, and the king was beheaded, and there was much chaos before a new leader was in place, lesson over" and shit like that.

Rather unsurprisingly, this was made law during the Cold War, in case of ZOMFG COMMIES IN AMERICA. Exit Cold War, and lawmakers conveniently …forgot to have it removed. Just in case of ZOMFG JIHADIS IN AMERICA or something. (Or worse, WeTheActualPeople taking the Third Option…)


The lack of actually useful lessons in pre-Uni schools, gets to be rather interesting once you find out stuff like that.
