Crude, sexist jokes are part of tech culture, and a lot of companies are run by young white guys who don’t seem to understand appropriate workplace behavior.
There is no objectively ``appropriate'' workplace behavior. What is considered to be ``appropriate workplace behaviour'' is determined by predominant social convention and morality. In techie environments, social convention (by rule of overwhelming majority) dictates that crude jokes are appropriate. The mistake is that the employers didn't specify the exact workplace atmosphere and environment in the contract terms, and tell you to take your business elsewhere if you can't handle dick jokes (because, frankly, if you can't take a dick joke, you won't make it through the pain and frustration software development inevitably incurs).
