how do I get smarter?

does /prog/ ever have learners' block?  I feel difficulty in grasping ``advanced'' concepts recently, like derivatives (dx), fractals, and some of the more advanced concepts in Haskell.

I'd just like to throw in my 2 cents:

I love how the word "homophobe" is thrown at anyone who disapproves of homosexuality, implying that their disapproval is rooted in an irrational fear.

There's some word trickery going on.
