Well, just because society may collapse doesn't mean humanity will continue to worsen. In fact, quite the opposite. If society collapses, the harshness of reality and the evolutionary pressures that made us great will once again be in play.
Only the strongest, smartest, and best will survive.
This is how it has been all throughout history. When the Roman empire began it's decline, it too was just as decadent as today, and parasitical upon the working-class males. Men started dropping out of society because it offered them nothing but slavery (ancient NEETS were the mountainmen, monks, wanderers, etc.) and they had to pass more taxes to keep running the empire, which only further accelerated the collapse. Then when that's not enough, they'll make military/civilian service duty mandatory for all men out of highschool. Obama is already starting to talk about doing just that in America.
