AI is almost entirely used for games. Deal with it.
Simulators are just like games in terms of math. Basic HS math knowledge at the most. Physics engines are written once by a separate company, who in turn probably buy their math libraries from yet another company.
Programming math libraries or math programs obviously requires a lot of math knowledge, but this is irrelevant to the question of math in programming. If someone is writing a phrenology program, I suppose one would have to know a lot of phrenology, but that doesn't say shit about programming in general.
