This article was written in 1987 by Philip Wadler, an american computer science professor from the University of Edinburgh (much work on static functional programming languages like ML and Haskell was done in Scotland). SICP was published in 1985. The Haskell programming language did not exist when this article was written and so the languages he suggests to replace Scheme were precursors to the evolution of Haskell. So Im sure if he were to have written this article today he would suggest Haskell.

Sometimes you write something retarded and a faggot keep repeating it. It happens all the time, you'll get used to, you'll see.
