So why not instate a nonlinear taxation scheme such that you don't pay a lot of taxes (because you don't have that much anyway), and make the high-income {bank,lawy}ers pay a lot more (quadratically or exponentially, even), huh?
Those {bank,lawy}ers just add the taxes onto the fees that they charge for their ``services'', which business owners pass on to their customers in increased prices. Making bread and milk more expensive hurts the poor a lot more than it hurts the wealthy.
