Our challenge problems all have the following characteristics: 3. They are imprecise. Our challenge problems aren't formally specified with 20 pages of rigorous documentation. Real world problems aren't specified that way, and Precog engineers need the ability to work usefully even when aspects of the problem are vaguely specified (sometimes that means inference, sometimes that means pushing for clarification).
