Everyone seems to prefer Git. Are you one of the few like Hitler who dont?

I use Fossil for larger personal projects, and Subversion for schoolwork and other small projects that don't merit an entire repository to themselves.

Fossil's integrated web server and distributed bug tracker are really nice.

The name sucks. Also,' >databases

Why the fuck did you have to put an ' and a > in front of your text?

Worse, why did you have to put that in code tags?

Why?

I'll never understand Internet people.

A lot of people prefer Mercurial (hg). I have no preference. hg is simpler but git is probably faster for huge projects, which doesn't really affect me personally. I personally use git because it's more ubiquitous and therefore more useful to know.

It's a /g/ shorthand for ``It's 2012. I seriously hope you guys don't do this.''

The ' is for tricking /prog/'s ancient version of google-code-prettify to think the rest of the line is a comment.

The > is a quoted line prefix, please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posting_style#Quoted_line_prefix

Because it's a piece of code. Did you not notice this is a programming board.

RFC 3676 depends on it and considers ">> " and "> > " to be semantically different. That is, ">> " has a quote-depth of two, while "> > " has a quote-depth of one, quoting a line starting with ">".
Oh tell that to shiit.

Also if you follow to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater-than_sign "Implication" is linked in the "See also" section. I checked the logs and sure enough the person who added it¹ looks a lot like somebody who should go back to a certain image board.

The question is, then, who is exactly >>3 quoting?

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-30 20:23

Why do you people think it's a quote? It's a programming board, it's in [code] tags, it's obviously fucking code.

That's not a spoiler. Spoilers are to mask plot-spoiling content. Abuse of spoilers may result in a ban.[1]

Thanks, I like it. I could do a gopher port for wiki. The Markup might need to tweaking.

Those rules are wrong. Example:
>This is a quote
No it's not, ``faggot''.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-30 20:42

>>9
Well, why don't you go back to /g/?

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-30 20:44

>>14
But why the fuck would you put ``databases'' in code tags? That's absolutely fucking retarded, no sane programming language will be able to do shit with that.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-30 20:58

Misuse of these tags may result in a ban.
Misuse of the tags confirmed for undefined behavior.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-30 21:00

>>21
That's the reason it's commented out.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-30 21:08

>>23
Then why do you put it in code tags then? You're so fucking retarded it almost hurts

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-30 21:19

If it runs on Unix and isn't a descendent of SCCS, you're probably okay.

Name: Anonymous 2012-10-30 21:19

>>24
Comments are a part of code, fucknuts.

Do you expect everyone to end their code tags whenever there's a comment, then reopen them after?

#include <stdio.h>

int main() {

/* Do some shit */
do_shit();
return 0;
}

?

What kind of person writes a program that consists of only one comment?

Fuck off back to le imagereddits, ``please''.
