Joining a team?

Hey i've been doing programming for a few years as a hobby throughtout high school. (I go to a fairly average Australian High School so advanced programming isn't even an option there) So i've taught myself a fair bit.
I was wondering if there were any projects happening out there that I could join - even if it was just to offer occasional input and watch the work being done mainly. I just feel like I could have something to offer or even just learn a little from new people. I don't mind what the project is, anything from game development to website design would be great!
