One can argue that injections are needlessly expensive, but I doubt that electric chairs burn that much electricity that bringing all that nitrogen to a gas chamber is more green and energy-efficient.  Purifying and compressing nitrogen is energy-demanding, and the tanks will most probably be transported to the execution site by a hydrocarbon-chomping truck.
