worse is better is about evolutionary pressures. he cites

1. portablity
2. compatibility
3. time to market

1.Microsoft spent a ton of money to get node.js working on windows.

2.Uses existing libraries and knowledge. Easy to embed in your existing projects.

3.api designed for one thing: small services talking to each other. No monolithic framework to learn, start writing code right away.

I would love it if clojure or haskell or scheme or ANYTHING but javascript would win, but that can't happen. Javascript is the ultimate virus, and it has already won. God help us all.
