"If you want to get laid, go to college.
If you want an education, go to the library."
The US University system is first and foremost a for-profit business run in collusion with banks and the government. University ropes you in with promises of a 'better' future, banks hand out the loans you would otherwise be unqualified for, and the government guarantees enforcement of repayment, bypassing bankruptcy laws. The system was not an accident but merely capitalists being capitalist, living by the motto, "fuck you, I'm getting mine."
If you can Google and discipline yourself for self-education, you can teach yourself nearly anything you need to learn in less time and more efficiently/thoroughly. You won't be stressing yourself out working a part-time service industry job for 4-8 hours a day to pay for some half-assed powerpoint read by a pompous academic with perhaps an indecipherable accent.
To rely on a university to educate you for employment is not only foolish, but career suicide should you work for a legitimate company that *gasp* requires you to be competent. If you do decide to stay in college and pursue a career, get internships and as much real-world hands-on experience as possible.
It's possible to have a career without a college education. It will take everything you've got to do it, but the rewards are out there. Otherwise, you'll be just another asshole with a degree competing with other assholes for scraps.
