Resources for Bash and Perl?

I know that people make too much of a big deal over their first language. As such, I've decided to make Bash my first. I can use Bash comfortably, but I can only create very simple scripts. I'd also like to look into Perl. I am avoiding Python because I hear very bad things.

Can you recommend some resources for me, /prog/? If so, please do!
