Meanwhile, Google continues to work hard to stay ahead, finding new and growing areas to expand into. Most recently the company has begun discussions to acquire the website 4chan which would bring with it a large user base.

I dont see how it can work at all. Googles entire profits come from advertising. Advertisers wont touch 4chan with a 10 foot pole. 4chan has constant racial hatred, extreme porn with no way to block access from kids, suicide threads. How could this possibly work? If Google were to set up strict guidelines, that would only send 4chan users to other chans, which might be a good thing and make 4chan underground again.
