Textbooks?

Would someone in the business list the essential textbooks that every hopeful software developer should have read. I'm not coming from such a high ranking school so I want to be sure I can compete.

Learn C, then OOP like java with data structures or some such book, read some reviews and find best one.  Parlay into Android (mobile dev growing) or other programming platform.  obligatory algorithm book in there too, for good measure.  Enough to get started.  All other 'famous' or 'historical' or 'classic' prog materials are def good reads but in spare time, for context & suppl. get down with the get down first.
