Trying to learn Haskell; need some help.

I'm 1/4 into "Learn you a Haskell for a greater good" and I find that I still can't practically do anything with Haskell.

1. Is this normal?
2. Is there a faster approach out there?

1. Yes.
2. LYaHfGG is not much better or worse than the other books out there.  Finish it and then read Real World Haskell.  And then read code, lots of it.
