Why is /prog/ so shit?

This board is shit. It's like /g/ without desktop threads but worse. There are no serious threads or threads about programming worth reading. The worst part is that it's filled with spam all the time.

1) Was it always like this?
2) Are you satisfied with it?
3) Are mods satisfied with it?
4) Are there any mods?

I'd like to interject to say that I actually enjoy reading prog more than any other board and I often pleasure myself to it. Thank you.
