I was thinking about this, what if you took a fucking shitload of quite inexpensive MIPS32 Microchip PIC32's and linked them together in a massive cluster?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-20 17:22

You can get a shitload of MFLOPs in a Nvidia Tesla GPU.

Also, Creative Labs suprised no one some years ago with multiple shitty cores in their ZII CPU.

The latest version is here:

My current PC, which I built quite a while ago, is still sufficient for my needs. I see no reason to upgrade for quite some time. Upgrading for the sake of upgrading is silly.

I want some of those hard drives. I'm running out of space.

Yes but where's the documentation required to write a Nvidia Tesla GPU driver, that is, including the compiler?

Name: Anonymous 2012-03-20 18:53

Same comment for Creative Labs' ZMS-40; where are the full docs?  I have no interest in closed platforms.

$2,000 Thinkpad and two $4,000 rack servers for crunching numbers and storing crap. Details don't even matter.

Name: Anonymous 2012-05-14 9:33

I have a Thinkpad as a terminal and a separate server for crunching numbers and storing my data. All you need after that is a decent dock for the notebook and a comfortable chair and keyboard.

External keyboard considered harmful. You might as well be using a desktop at that point; it'll be cheaper.
