Also, Creative Labs suprised no one some years ago with multiple shitty cores in their ZII CPU.
My current PC, which I built quite a while ago, is still sufficient for my needs. I see no reason to upgrade for quite some time. Upgrading for the sake of upgrading is silly.
$2,000 Thinkpad and two $4,000 rack servers for crunching numbers and storing crap. Details don't even matter.
