C or C++ first (or SICP)?

So, I have to learn C++ for the job I'm going to do. I understand that it's a poorly put together language according to you guys, and that the best C++ programmers are people who have come from C. Taking that into account, should I learn C++ first, or C first, or read SICP first? As it is I know Fortran.

If you learn C really well, you realized C++ and C are one and the same. If you learn C++ really well, then you do not know C. Can a man who has forgotten his father know himself?
