So i'm new to programming, and i'm learning Python and Fortran. I lurk here and see stuff that I have no idea what they are like gamma and lambda functions, and people saying python and java and the like are for babby programmers. How do I become a good programmer? What should I learn, and how do I find out about all these crazy things I haven't heard of?
Study ``The C Programming Language" by K&R. Read and write C. It will make you a better programmer, no matter what language you end up eventually writing with (C++ is a good second language).

C is undefined shit.
Learn x86 protected or long mode assembly instead.
