When not at work I find myself unable to start programming until its midnight, at which point a compulsion drives me to immediately begin writing something. Any other similar freaks out there? Do you have a guess on why this is so?

I feel exactly the same, the later it is the more programming drive I get. It's at its worst when I should be sleeping since I have to get up in the morning, but I get this extremely strong urge to code.

I share this trait, but I can also program during normal hours after having slept 9-12 hours due to being exhausted from nocturnal programming the previous day.
